Paint an Advent Wreath

Once we have the first advent wreath ceremony of the holiday season, I walk the students through the paint brush to create an advent wreath. After it is printed, they can take the wreath home and draw a candle for the remaining three weeks of advent.

The project gives us the ability to talk about the different colors associated with advent candles. Our school has four dark blue candles. Some Catholic churches use three purple and a pink candle. They color them as they feel appropriate. Also, we use the crayon to draw the flame at the top of the candle. We talk about the colors in a flame. My sample usually has yellow, orange, and red.
