Astronaut Mission Patch

The fourth grade learns about space. I found a WebQuest about space and it generated the idea to take the kids online to view actual mission patches. I then break the students into groups of two astronauts per team. They make their own mission patch based on their last names, where they are traveling, and they create a name for the mission. We look at Project Mercury Mission Patches, Project Gemini Mission Patches, and Project Apollo Mission Patches. This year, I'll teach the students how to use the school's del.icio.us account to get to those web sites. It's good prep work for their science project. I'll put some samples up. We simply start with an unfilled circle outline. It's a good review of holding down the shift key while drawing to make a perfect circle.
